Leehurst Swan Pupils Met Popular Historian Dan Snow at Chalke Valley History Festival

30th June 2017

On Wednesday 28 June, historians from Year 10 visited the Daily Mail Chalke Valley Festival. After weeks of unbroken sunshine, the rain descended on the site but it didn’t dampen spirits. Pupils attended a number of lectures directly related to their iGCSE course, including one on the League of Nations and Post War Treaties.A particular highlight was a talk by popular TV historian, Dan Snow, on The Importance of History, which was hugely appreciated by all.

There was also the opportunity to visit a number of living history exhibits and static aeroplanes from the Second World War.

However, most people agreed that, a high point of the day was visiting the reconstruction of a First World War trench complete with soldiers, shell fire and a real live ‘war horse’.
