Mrs Sara Jackson appointed as new Headteacher at Airthrie School

21st September 2017

I am very excited to have been offered the opportunity to become the Headteacher at Airthrie School . I joined as Deputy Head in 2016 and like the School’s warm and caring atmosphere, with the children at the centre of everything; I believe it is essential to provide a nurturing, caring environment which helps every pupil to reach their social, emotional and academic potential and Airthrie does just that!

Since qualifying, I have taught at every primary level in a variety of different schools, both state and in the independent sector. Before moving to Cheltenham, I spent four years as Assistant Head, shaping the policy of the school and preparing for an ISI inspection and as a Year 6 teacher, helping pupils to secure entry into the senior school of their choice. Each setting has given me an insight into how to get the best from each child and I am a firm believer in the creation of an environment where every pupil is treated as an individual, are valued and supported and thrive.

In my spare time, I enjoy outdoor activities and occasionally sailing with my husband and three children, who inspire me every day! Since the 2012 Olympics, I have also been a keen volunteer at music festivals and sporting events, and have an NVQ Level 2 in Spectator Safety, although I am yet to put this to use since moving to Gloucestershire.

Discovering individual excellence is paramount and I am looking forward to taking on this exciting role and playing an active role in every aspect of life at Airthrie.
