The Independent Schools Association (ISA) exists to provide professional support to Headteachers of independent nursery, prep and secondary schools, and sixth form colleges.
We work with our members, and with other associations and organizations, to promote excellence in our sector.
We currently have around 300 members and our schools vary widely in terms of size and age range. Some are Junior Schools to age 11 (or in some cases Pre-Prep schools with an age range to 7 or 8); some are Senior Schools (11–16 or 18) and others cater for the full age range to 16 or 18. Nearly one quarter have some boarders and a small number are Special Schools, faith schools or schools which specialise in Dance, Music and Drama.
We offer a wide and expanding range of member services (for the full list please see Advantages of Membership), including the provision of up-to-date information and legal advice, value-for-money training opportunities for Heads and their Staff, and a wide range of sporting and cultural activities for the pupils in member schools.
Quality, in all ISA schools, is assured by their regular inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate which is itself monitored by Ofsted.
Heads of schools interested in becoming members of ISA should see the Join ISA section of this website and contact the Membership Officer who will send out a membership pack.
Teachers looking for jobs in the independent sector should access details of vacancies by clicking on the Independent Schools Council Job Zone, by looking in the Times Educational Supplement and via agencies, many of whom advertise in the Times Educational Supplement.
