Suitable for: Heads, Deputy Heads and other senior leaders

Effective school leadership is viewed by many as second only to classroom teaching in determining the quality of pupils’ learning and achievement.  However, providing such leadership is easier said than done. This course is a practical one designed to help delegates develop a leadership model tailored to their individual schools and styles of leadership. It will explore the following themes: creating an organisational culture of high expectations; time management and the art of delegation; building high-performing teams; identifying and developing talent; and the managing difficult colleagues. A series of scenario-based exercises will be used to explore how to provide effective leadership in challenging situations. Finally, the course will look at techniques that can be used to assess leadership effectiveness.

Course tutor: Steve Boyes
