Junior school pupils at LVS Ascot got a taste of life during World War II at a special event in December.
The Year 6 pupils sampled wartime food, learned how rations worked, and played 1940s games at a WWII morning at the school.
Staff, parents and pupils prepared food from wartime recipes, and sampled dishes ranging from carrot fudge to Spam. The pupils, many of them dressed in traditional costume, were also shown what the rationed portions of daily basics would have looked like.
After sampling the food, the pupils played traditional air shelter games such as Ludo and Derby Day, and discussed what they had experienced.
One pupil commented that the food had reminded them of school dinners – at a previous school of course!
