Children at Polwhele House School in Truro had a taste of the Olympics this week, when one of the real Olympic torches made a visit to their school. The torch was brought to school by year four pupil Jenna Kerridge, whose uncle was an Olympic torchbearer in Falmouth earlier this month. Class Teacher and Head of Art Claire Richmond said: ” Having experienced the atmosphere at the start of the relay in Cornwall, the whole class was very excited. As each of the children made their own Olympic torch for Sports Day last week, it meant a great deal to them to be able to hold the real thing – something that at 8 years of age I am sure they will remember for the rest of their lives.”
