ISA Welcomes GCSE Re-think
14th January 2015

Neil Roskilly, ISA’s CEO, has issued the following response following Michael Gove’s announcement on GCSE reform this morning:
” ISA welcomes the Government’s decision to retain GCSE examinations, in favour of introducing the new English Baccalaureate Certificates. We have long voiced concern that the new measure was too narrow in scope, and could potentially marginalise non – core subjects such as Art, RE and Sport .”
” We agree that GCSEs need to be more rigorous, and look forward to working with our colleagues at the DfE and Ofqual in a bid to ensure that the examination system continues to reflect the needs of the independent sector.”
