Mayor Of Bracknell Honours LVS Ascot Pupils At President’s Day

26th July 2015

LVS Ascot welcomed the Mayor of Bracknell, Councillor Mrs Dee Hamilton, on Thursday 2nd July at the school’s formal end of term presentation ceremony.  Cllr Mrs Hamilton and her consort Mr Scott Hamilton were part of the Platform Party as the leading independent all-ability school’s 700+ senior school pupils and their families gathered to recognise and reward hard work and successes of the past academic year.

The formal ceremony included emotional speeches from the outgoing Head Girl, Head Boy and Head of Boarding which encapsulated the LVS Ascot spirit and after the ceremony there were lots of fond farewells between pupils, and also with teachers.

Cllr Mrs Hamilton was impressed by the school’s ethos of providing a better standard of education and a better start to life whilst also inspiring greater achievements and the promotion of soft skills, saying: ““LVS Ascot has a rich history of achievement and its President’s Day celebration ceremony is so important in recognising the efforts of pupils to inspire them further”.

LVS Ascot seeks to provide the widest possible range of academic and extra-curricular activities so its pupils can achieve in whichever areas they excel, and prizes across each year included languages, drama, STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), physical education and food technology amongst others, with prizes for notable efforts awarded alongside the presentations for high achievement. Prized scholarships from the Worshipful Company of Innholders and the Licensed Trade Charity were also announced.

After the formal part of the ceremony families moved outside as the school’s vast grounds became the focus of a social gathering with a barbecue and live jazz music to round off a memorable academic year.

Principal Christine Cunniffe said: “All of our pupils have worked so hard this year and it is great to see so many of them share in being rewarded for their efforts. There is no better way to end the academic year than to gather together as a whole and sing, applaud and recognise achievement, and then relax outside enjoying the social atmosphere that being part of the LVS Ascot family provides”.
