Girls’ Hockey – Ghyll Royd 2 – Gateways 1
A horrible day could not dampen Ghyll Royd’s spirits for the first hockey fixture of the season against Gateways’. Mrs Mayrick our Head Coach organised Ghyll Royd’s girls into a strong attacking and defensive side. This paid off with Daisy scoring in the first 2 minutes to end a well worked passage of play by Ghyll Royd.Out of season coaching kicking in. A period of stalemate saw both sides working hard and producing some excellent play. Ghyll Royd failed to clear lines and Gateways squeezed the ball across the line. Fantastic hard work saw team Ghyll Royd starting to dominate. Georgia now controlling defence, this allowing midfielders to push deeper in the Gateways half applying more and more pressure. Ghyll Royd being rewarded with another well worked goal by Daisy late in the third quarter. A superb team performance by Ghyll Royd allowed us to see out the game.

Girls’ Football – Ghyll Royd 0 – Ashlands 1
The first match of the season set off to a flying pace with both sides having chances to score. Ghyll Royd had good possession with a lot of play coming from Scarlett. Ghyll Royd made some excellent chances but were held by a very strong Ashlands defence. The second half saw Ashlands attack early on and were rewarded with a weak goal that Ghyll Royd should have defended. Ghyll Royd rallied as a team and took the game to Ashlands. Missed opportunities in front of goal resulted in a defeat for Ghyll Royd. The game was played in really good spirits.
