Radix wins the UK under 15 all round Sportshall Championship

On Sunday 17 April in Sport City Manchester, Radix Mulawarman from St Michael’s School Llanelli, Carmarthenshire won the UK under 15 all round sportshall championship. At Manchester he won 4 medals ,three gold and one  silver. He was competing for Dyfed schools in Manchester having won the Carmarthenshire trial in Carmarthen and then the Welsh final in Cwmbran on Sunday 13 March 2016. In Manchester he was competing against the besfrom England who had qualified for the UK final. He won the standing long jump with a leap of 2.88m which equalled the Welsh record and the speed bounce where he had a score of 90 bounces in 30 seconds. Radix was equal second in the 2 lap race.In the Carmarthenshire trial on 28 January 2016 he was only fourth in the 2 lap time trial and only jumped 2.62m and recorded 86 bounces in the speed bounce event. At Cwmbran in the Welsh final he recorded a leap of 2.84m in the long jump and 88 bounces in the speed bounce. In the UK final he improved in all three events to become a very worthy champion. Sportshall Athletics competitions was first held at the Carmarthen Leisure Centre 1992 and this was the first time for an athlete from Carmarthenshire and Wales to go on to win the UK sportshall athletics under 15 all round title.
