Leehurst Swan Awarded the Silver School Games Mark Award

26th September 2016

We are delighted to announce that Leehurst Swan has been awarded the silver School Games Mark award.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.

Mrs Pearce, Head of PE, commented that ‘At Leehurst Swan we are dedicated to exposing pupils to as many different sports as we can in order for them to find their niche. Being awarded the silver mark demonstrates that, against national standards, Leehurst Swan offers its pupils exceptional opportunities, not only to excel in sport but to understand team work and gamesmanship.’

Roger Leake, Headmaster, noted that ‘We are committed to providing excellent sporting opportunities school. It’s always a delight to celebrate the sporting achievements of our pupils, some of whom excel as individuals, and some as a team.’

Leehurst Swan’s Games curriculum plan incorporates the traditional sports such as rugby, football, hockey, netball, rounders, cricket, basketball, tennis, table tennis and hand ball. The PE curriculum includes athletics, swimming, orienteering, gymnastics, dance, team problem solving and health-related fitness.

Congratulations to Leehurst Swan!
