Mia Now Ranked No5 in Country…

7th June 2017

Mia Groom took part in the BMC (British Milers Club) classic in Milton Keyes on Saturday.  The BMC is the premier middle distance athletics club in the country.  There were over 600 competing in middle distance events which included the Steeplechase.  Most of the competitors were there to get the English Schools time as the deadline is very soon.

Mia ran in the 1500m Steeplechase which is her specialist event.  The steeplechase is an obstacle race in athletics, which derives its name from the steeplechase in horse racing.

Mia needed 5.23 for entry standard.  She ran 5.18.11.  She came 2nd by less than 1 second, she broke the Shaftesbury record from 2012, the Hertfordshire Record from 2006 and most importantly now will be considered for English Schools in Birmingham in July, which is the 4th largest athletics event in the world staged each year.  Mia is now ranked No 5 in the Country.

On Sunday she followed her winning streak running in Luton in the flat 1500m and gained a PB.

Well done Mia!
