The Park School Head Mrs Jane Huntington, staff and governors were proud to welcome over 300 guests to their Grand Opening celebration at Chilton Cantelo House on Monday evening.
Guest of honour was Lord Ashdown of Norton-Sub-Hamdon, who conducted the opening ceremony and regaled the guests with an amusing and entertaining speech including some anecdotes about his own school days. A plaque with a quote from Bishop Thomas Ken was unveiled and then positioned in the entrance hall of Chilton Cantelo House.
Pupils, Parents, grandparents, friends, past pupils, local residents and local dignitaries enjoyed a pleasant evening with drinks and canapés on the lawns and staff performed escorted tours to show off the newly acquired site.
Park School Prep department, which includes Saplings Nursery, the pre-prep and prep children (ages 3 – 13) will now be based at the site in Chilton Cantelo; as well as housing the boarders. Riverside house is a purpose built boarding house and will now be ‘home’ for all the boarders who include a number of international students.
Head Mrs Jane Huntington gave a speech outlining the history of both Park School and Chilton Cantelo House and said:
“We are delighted with the numbers of people who came to help us celebrate this landmark occasion in the history of both Park School and Chilton Cantelo House. I would like to thank everybody who has worked so hard to make this happen, and we look forward to what will no doubt be a challenging, but exciting academic year ahead”
