ISA Badminton Tournament

8th December 2017

The inaugural ISA Badminton competition took place on Thursday 7th December 2017 at the prestigious David Ross Sports Village at the University of Nottingham. This was a great venue for the children to participate in as it offered them the opportunity to aspire to becoming a University of Nottingham student in the future.

65 pupils representing 12 schools from across the country took part in the competition from year 5 to year 13. It was wonderful to see such a wide age range of pupils competition at one event. Every pupil was given the opportunity to play competitive matches throughout the morning and afternoon and over 230 matches were played across the course of the day. There was a extensive spread of experience among the players with some only having played at school whereas other pupils who play very seriously on the national circuit. Nevertheless, all pupils treated each other with equality and respect and played their matches in a sporting manner.

We look forward to growing the competition in size next year and encourage all our badminton players to consider entering the tournament as it offers a huge level of experience and opportunities to learn and develop the pupils game at every level.
