First Cross Country Champs after a break of over 11 Years

26th March 2019

Oakhyrst Oakhyrst Grange School hosted their first Cross Country ISA Championships after a break of over 11 Years. With over 300 runners from 20 Schools across the region the event was a wonderful sporting and organisational triumph. A slightly lengthened course encompassing a woodland route and open pitch and spaces for contrast proved both popular and effective.

There were 8 races for girls and boys at Under 9 and Under 11 age categories. The first 10 Girls and Boys in each of the categories will go to the National Finals in Rugby next week. Estee N, Lily Mae O. and Aspen P all qualified in the Under 11 Girls category. Sam M, Henry P, Isaac D, Leah K. and Claudia L. all qualified in the U9 Boys and Girls Category. A massive congratulations to ALL of the runners for their huge efforts on the day. A special mention too for all of the Oakhyrst Year 5 and 6 pupils who acted as Marshals. They were very professional and supportive of all competitors throughout the event.

A final word for Mrs Pumphrey for organising the event. Thank you to her and to all of the Oakhyrst Staff who all, in their individual ways, supported the running of the event. Thank you too to the many visiting staff and parents who attended in large numbers. A very successful day.
