On the 23 March 2019 three girls from the Ursuline Preparatory School Brentwood, were selected to represent Essex U11 Girls at The EPSCA (English Primary School Chess Association) Chess competition in Birmingham.
Ariana (year 4), Charlotte and Ishita (year 6) made their way to the competition in good spirits to meet the other 9-team members.
All girls played extremely well and it was noted that their attitude and behaviour was impeccable.
Ariana, Charlotte and Ishita were thrilled to come into school on Monday to announce that their team had won the competition, beating 15 other teams from around the country, including North Wales and Nottinghamshire to name but two.
Mrs Wilson, Headmistress was delighted to hear this news, especially as chess has become very popular within school, with more and more children signing up for chess club. She had great pleasure in presenting all three girls with their certificates and trophies at the weekly assembly attended by the whole school community.
