June #athleteofthemonth 2019

5th July 2019

We have just completed the fifth round of our new Athlete of the Month competition, a monthly rolling event on our Twitter page for teachers to nominate a pupil with outstanding contributions to sports both in and outside of their school. We received some fantastic nominations this month, and would like to congratulate all of our nominees and shortlisted athletes for all their achievements; the dedication and hard work has been so inspirational to see. ISA schools should be very proud of their pupils.

This month’s winner is Dan from Dixie Grammar School, CONGRATULATIONS Dan!

Dan is an inspirational figure within the school, delivering ‘Inspire Through Sport’ presentations to his younger peers showing how sport can have a positive affect on learning. Dan trains as a swimmer eight times a week at national level, qualifying for four events this year at the British Summer Championship’s (200m, 400m and 800m freestyle and 400m IM). Dan is ranked top fifteen in Great Britain at under 15 year age group for these four races.

Dan also swims for the county at National Inter-County events and for East Midlands at international meetings. Dan completed the first stage of the Swim England talent pathway involving three one day camps and has qualified for the last six ISA National Finals, holding the ISA National Record for 50m Backstroke.

Well done Dan, from everyone at ISA!
