4th March 2020

Claires Court Senior Girls U15 hockey team have been crowned national hockey champions at the Independent Schools Association (ISA) finals, hosted at the Lee Valley Olympic Hockey Park with Yasmin P. named player of the tournament.

With plenty of possession, Claires Court was an attacking force at the February tournament and won their first four games 1-0, 2-0, 2-1 and 3-0 to secure a place at the top of the table and passage through into the semi-finals. A tense semi-final match against Ipswich High ended in a 1-1 draw and was decided by penalty shuffles. Claires Court held their nerve and overcame their opponents 4-3 on penalty shuffles to head though into the final.

Showing a relaxed demeanour, Claires Court put on an impressive performance against Hull Collegiate winning 1-0 to secure the title of ISA U15 national champions with Year 10 pupil Yasmin P. named player of the tournament.

Victoria Barrett, Claires Court Senior Girls PE teacher, commended the team: “We are immensely impressed with not only the strength the girls have shown on the pitch but also their positive attitude throughout the day, great work girls! We are incredibly fortunate to be able to provide our pupils with so many opportunities to practice and hone their skills in the sporting arena, alongside our varied academic curriculum.”
