ISA remains at your service for advice as the Covid-19 situation develops. So we can ensure full support for our Members over the next few months, we have enacted some changes to our staffing arrangements, events and other programmes. We are of course apologetic for any disappointment that this will cause, particularly where an event for children has been affected, but we hope that you will understand and appreciate that the safety of our schools has to take priority.
ISA’s services in support of our Members are still in full operation. You can find direct contact details for our different departments on our website for individual queries or advice for Members. For example, Penningtons LLP is still running the ISA Legal service, full details here. There is lots of useful information on the ISA Discourse site, with expert advice from fellow Members on topics such as handling Covid-19 challenges and online/remote learning systems. Contact Neil Roskilly if you wish to sign up.
The welfare of Members, teaching staff, colleagues, pupils and their families is our foremost concern. In line with other organisations, ISA believes that holding many large-scale events that involve pupils and staff travelling across the UK is not advisable in current times. We have reviewed all national ISA events in Arts, Sport and Professional Development until the end of the summer term and decisions on viability are summarised below. Some events where the possibility of viral transmission is low may still go ahead. We are very sorry for any inconvenience and disappointment caused, and hope you will pass on our apologies to the talented pupils, parents and staff that have been affected.
Please watch our website for possible further changes to the status of all ISA events over the next few months.
ISA National Arts Events
North Drama Festival, Sunday, 22 March at the Hammond School – cancelled but to be replaced by a video/online adjudication
National Choral Celebration, Monday, 4 May at Tettenhall College – cancelled
Many online Arts events are still running and new opportunities for pupils are being developed
ISA National Sports Events
The following ISA national sports events are regrettably postponed or cancelled. Once the future for sporting events has become clear, we will reschedule some events where practical and we will be in touch with schools.
Cross Country, Friday, 20 March at Worksop College
Skiing, Monday, 27 March at Hemel Hempstead (follow updates here)
Triathlon, Wednesday, 29 April at Lucton School
Football U11 National Finals, Monday, 4 May at St George’s Park
Tennis, Wednesday, 13 May at Rugby School
Gymnastics, Sunday, 10 May at Adcote School
Athletics, Monday, 15 June at Manchester Regional Arena
Other ISA sports events not listed above are still scheduled to take place (pending further developments and national advice).
ISA Area (regional) Sports Events
Please contact your regional sport coordinator or individual events organisers. ISA HQ does not arrange these events and regional qualifying competitions may still run as standalone events even if a related national competition is cancelled.
ISA Training and Conferences
ISA courses at external venues until 22 May are cancelled. This is to reduce the current burden on schools that kindly host courses for us. Wherever possible these training courses will be rescheduled for a future date. Delegates booked on these courses will be contacted by ISA with information about credits, refunds and rescheduling.
Some ISA courses at ISA House are continuing to run, with priority given to compliance and inspection-related events. Additional hygiene precautions are in place at ISA House, though delegates who have been in direct contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19 should not attend, in line with government guidance. You must not attend an ISA course if you are feeling at all unwell.
You can find information on all the training courses we are still planning to offer this year, on our courses page. We will continue to review the situation in line with government guidance and update our website accordingly.
The ISA Members’ AGM scheduled in May (see previous notice issued to Members) will be held remotely, by electronic vote. If you require a postal or proxy vote, please contact ISA HQ.
25 March update:
Unfortunately our Annual Conference has been cancelled this year due to the Covid-19 crisis. However, we have arranged to return to the 5* Grand Hotel Eastbourne between 20 – 22 May 2021 and we will contact all members with more details for the 2021 conference in due course.
