We understand that these last few months have presented challenging times for schools, teachers, pupils and parents alike. As an association, we would like to applaud all our schools for the way they adapted during the pandemic. We are deeply proud to support a sector which has no doubt provided a lifeline to pupils and parents.

Support from ISA

ISA continues to support our Members with any questions or concerns regarding the pandemic, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our team. Other services include:

The ISA School Leadership Expert Crisis Mentoring Group

Our team of volunteer experts are still happy to help and can offer professional guidance on the implications of Covid-19.

ISA Online Community Forum

Our ISA Discourse forum has proved to be extremely popular during this time and has enabled ISA Members to share experiences, advice, and resources on handling Covid-19 challenges. All staff in Members’ schools are permitted to sign up. If you wish to do so, please contact Peter Woodroffe.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

Many ISA Members have described this year to us as the most challenging of their entire career. Please remember that one of your Member benefits is free access to the Employee Assistance Programme from Health Assured, which offers a range of support and benefits, including 24 hour phone helplines, online resources and telephone and face-to-face counselling.

This is a personal benefit for ISA Members (normally the Headteacher in day-to-day control of the school). It does not cover teaching staff in your school. ISA does not receive any names or details of those who use the programme: it is a confidential service for you.

How to Access the Services:

Contact us for login details to access this service or see the latest ISA newsletter.
If you’d prefer, you can call the counselling team in confidence on 0800 030 5182

Update on Events

Our Sport, Art and Professional Development Programmes will look a bit different this year. However, we are determined to provide as many opportunities for pupils and teachers as possible. We are creating online events where appropriate, and we will regularly review Government guidance to ensure we can safely facilitate the return of face-to-face events.

Members will be kept up to date on the status of events for the end of 2020 and ahead for 2021 via email, so do look out for announcements.

Sport Events

ALL ISA national and regional sporting events for the Autumn term have been cancelled (or postponed where possible). A review of our Spring term competitions will take place in November, with an update to schools shortly after. ISA Sport will continue to update you regularly with NGB and Government announcements throughout the term. Statement updated 11/09/2020

Art Events

ISA Regional Art Competitions 2020: Please note that some of the regional competitions will be run remotely, check the Art pages and contact the Art Coordinator for your area for deadlines to enter and for the latest updates.

ISA Arts is pleased to share with you the ISA National Arts Calendar 2020/2021, including many online opportunities.

The finals of the National Art Competition which takes place alongside our Autumn Study Conference has been postponed until February.

Professional Development

The majority of Autumn term courses will now take place online via Zoom, at a reduced rate. View the online training on offer here.

The Autumn Study Conference has been postponed until 25-26 February and a decision will be made on other conferences in due course.
