Dream DJ gig for former Claires Court Senior Boy

22nd December 2020

Maidenhead-local Sam MacGregor is fulfilling one of his dreams by taking to the BBC Radio 1 airwaves this Christmas.

Having won Best Presenter at last year’s National Student Radio Awards, Sam and co-presenter Danni Diston have been selected to appear on the station over Christmas as part of BBC Radio 1’s Christmas Presenter Search. They will be sitting in for Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton presenting the young adult’s advice show, BBC R1’s LIFE HACKS and The Official Chart: First Look live on December 27, from 4pm to 7pm.

Sam, 22 years old, commented: “This is an incredible opportunity and I cannot wait to make the most out of this experience – it’s absolutely wild.
“It’s a pleasure to be sitting in the hot seat on BBC Radio 1 and an absolute dream of mine that I get to fulfil, not only alongside my best mate but along with the nation. “I’m truly grateful for all the endless support and encouragement I’ve received both past and present from Claires Court – thank you.”

James Wilding, Academic Principal at Claires Court, said: “We’re immensely proud of Sam and wish him all the best with this amazing opportunity. Sam’s progression to the limelight commenced with voice and guitar; he’s a consummate performer and has so much courage. All our pupils have opportunities to aim and achieve their dreams, and Sam really is making the most of his.”
