Stoke College students have achieved outstanding A level results: 90% A*-A.
Once again, Stoke College students have achieved remarkable A Level results and thus gained an average of 166 UCAS points, in only the third set of A Level results since opening its Sixth Form in 2017.
Mrs Charis Hunn-Smith, Head of Sixth Form, commented: “Under the careful guidance of expert teachers and our unique nurturing environment where individual attention is key, our students have achieved an average of 2 A* and an A – a truly outstanding result. What makes these even more special is knowing how much value our teaching has added for each student. These students have faced remarkable challenges which they have each risen to with aplomb.”
In particular, Stoke College extends congratulations to Lawrence T, who achieved 3 A* in English Literature, Economics and Politics, alongside a B in AS Mathematics and an A in his Extended Project Qualification, which researched the impact of British Colonial rule on Hong Kong. Lawrence will be taking up his place at Exeter University to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics this Autumn.
Charlotte H is also a record-breaking student, having attended Stoke College from Reception through to Year 13 – a feat that can no longer be repeated since the school closed its junior school in August 2020 making space for a larger Sixth Form. Charlotte will now take up a place at Leeds Beckett University to study Sport and Exercise Science and commented, “I owe everything to Stoke College and my teachers. Thank you so much!”
Principal, Dr Gareth Lloyd, commented: “We are absolutely thrilled with these exceptional results. They are a testimony to the students’ diligence and commitment to intellectual endeavour, and of course reflect excellence in teaching. We wish all our Upper Sixth students every success as they now embark upon degrees at excellent universities across the country.”
As part of recent investment, Stoke College is now able to offer an expanded suite of A Levels for students starting in September 2021 and welcomes applications for the last few remaining places.
