Pupils and staff at Ditcham Park School are celebrating today’s excellent GCSE results; 49% of results were grades 9-7 and 99.9% of results were grades 9-4.
As GCSE exams were cancelled this year due to the disruption to teaching and learning caused by the pandemic, GCSE grades were awarded by teachers based on assessed work.
Throughout the Spring and Summer Term our Form 5 (Yr11) students completed a rigorous programme of internal assessments and examinations. Through this process students were able to demonstrate their academic skills and talents while building a comprehensive portfolio of evidence.
Due to this sustained effort by our pupils, supported by our hard-working staff who were able to offer a full programme of online teaching throughout the lockdown periods, Ditcham Park School can be confident that the grades our pupils have achieved are justified, fair and valid.
Headmaster Graham Spawforth, commented: “Congratulations to our students and staff for their efforts in achieving these excellent results which are fully deserved; we are enormously proud of all our pupils.”
“It is pleasing that our students have obtained grades which reflect their hard work and talents despite the pandemic’s impact on the exam process which has been stressful for students and teachers alike.
“I know all our staff and Governors join me in wishing our pupils every success in their future studies and careers.”
