Dixie Grammar School GCSE results 2021

12th August 2021

There was great celebration amongst Year 11 students at the Dixie Grammar School this morning with over two thirds of all GCSE grades awarded at Grade 7 or above (the old grade A) and with a quarter at the highest Grade 9.

Fifteen individuals were awarded Grade 7 or above for all subjects, but as is always the case, the highest grades do not necessarily reflect the greatest achievements. This year more than ever, the achievements of all students should be applauded. Each individual has faced a unique set of challenges including a mix of remote and face to face learning – accessing full days of tuition away from school and modified school practice for lessons when back in school. Throughout this educational hokey-cokey experience, Dixie staff, parents and students in particular have shown incredible resilience and fortitude as the various demands of the academic year have played out.

I greatly look forward to welcoming a very strong Lower Sixth back to the Dixie in September to start their A level careers. Our one to one pastoral care and UCAS guidance allied with our expert tuition and small classes will ensure this cohort achieve at least as much as our talented Upper Sixth whose A level results were such a cause for celebration earlier this week. Following our bespoke A level transition courses last half term, all students have already embarked on their A level courses, including our first ever A level Psychology class which is expertly led by our new Head of Psychology, Miss Kirsty Reason.

Ambitious plans have been approved for our new-build Sixth Form accommodation and we very much look forward to this exciting project emerging from the ground, with final design choices guided by our new Lower Sixth students.
