Pupils at Hulme Hall Grammar School in Stockport were celebrating this morning after receiving their GCSE results, which were once again oustanding.
Results in the all-important core subjects were excellent. Particularly impressive were the English Language results where 92% of pupils attained a Grade 4 or above (national average 74%). In Mathematics, 88% of pupils achieved at least a Grade 4 (national average 69%) 13% of pupils achieved the top Grade 9 in Mathematics (national average 5%).
Said Headmaster, Mr Grierson, “It was fantastic to see so many happy and smiling faces at Hulme Hall this morning. Our Year 11 leavers have had to put up with so much disruption to their education throughout their GCSE studies, yet they have delivered an excellent set of results with over a third of exam entries receiving the higher grades i.e., 7 or above (36%). This compares very favourably indeed with the average across the country (29%).
As well as the successes in English and Mathematics, the Science department are also celebrating after building on last year’s already excellent results in Biology, Chemistry and Physics with a pass rate of 100% across the three disciplines. There were also 100% pass rates for Further Maths, 3D Design, Photography, Drama, Food Preparation and Nutrition, Spanish, History and Music.
There were some outstanding individual achievements, led by Deputy Head Girl, Issabella, who secured 11 passes, including four Grade 9s and is going on to study A levels at her first-choice college. Lexie also excelled with three grade 9’s and 4 Grade 8’s in her results and will now study Law, Mathematics and Sport. Head Boy Qazi led the way for the boys with 2 Grade 9’s and 4 Grade 8’s in his 10 passes.
Mr Grierson commented: “I would like to congratulate all the pupils on their efforts and achievements and thank the staff who worked so hard to help support them. The partnership between the school, the pupils and the parents is such an important part of what we do at Hulme Hall and forms the basis of the caring and nurturing environment that the school provides which allows our pupils to flourish and achieve such good results.”
