Ryan, an A Level student at DLD College, qualified for a place in the prestigious UK Maclaurin Mathematical Olympiad after achieving the Gold Award in the UK Intermediate Mathematical Challenge.
The intermediate challenge tested Ryan’s problem-solving skills through a task which encourages mathematical reasoning and precision of thought.
After Ryan flourished in the intermediate, he earned a spot to compete against 600 other top-performing students from across the UK at the Maclaurin Mathematical Olympiad.
The DLD pupil rose to the occasion with a brilliant show of his determination, as well as his ability. Ryan finished in the top 50, earning a Distinction and special award.
Ryan was awarded a Gold Medal and a book prize for his achievement.
Head of Mathematics at DLD College London, Dr Jean-Michel Delhotel, presented Ryan with his special award:

DLD College London Principal, Irfan Latif, congratulated Ryan on his ‘fantastic achievement’, reiterating that opportunities like this are an ‘integral part’ of the school’s ‘wider learning experience’:
“This is a fantastic achievement and we are exceptionally proud of Ryan for excelling in this highly-regarded national tournament.
“At DLD College London we actively encourage our students to extend their learning far beyond the classroom, providing them with a wide and varied range of opportunities to do so.
“Challenges such as those organised by the UK Mathematics Trust support our school curriculum and form an integral part of the wider learning experience, allowing our students to develop both academically and personally.”
DLD are based in the heart of London, with a campus overlooking Westminster and the River Thames.
The school educates boys and girls aged 14 to 19, offering GCSE, A-Level and BTEC courses, as well as International Foundation Programmes (IFP) and an Academic Preparation Programme (APC).
