Hosted by The King’s School, Harpenden
553 games of table tennis were played by the pupils of ISA schools over the last week, as they battled it out for the London North individual titles.
First up on Wednesday 12 January were the U13s, with Northbridge House School (Hampstead) dominating proceedings. The boys competition, involving 20 players, was won by Joey, beating his school mate Enrico in the final, with Aaron (King’s) winning the bronze medal for 3rd place. The girls competition also saw an all NBH final, with Alice defeating Zoia, with Abigail (King’s) in 3rd. Pupils from The King Alfred School and Immanuel (Romford) also participated over the course of the three-hour tournament, with other schools pulling out due to staffing.
The next day five schools came together for the primary (U11) championships. This time the girls’ winner came from Avon House, Ritisha beating Erinayo (King’s) in a close final, with Elina (King’s) finishing 3rd. The boys competition saw 16 players bat it out over two group stages and then a knockout competition. Ryan (King’s) took a high standard final 2-1 against Habeeb (Holland House) with Felix (King Alfred) in bronze after beating Aaron (Daiglen).
Tuesday 18 January saw the completion of the series with six schools meeting up for the U16 competition. Northbridge House again performed impressively, Lara winning the Girl’s final against Tope (King’s), with Lisa (King’s) in 3rd. The boys was the biggest draw of the week, with 24 players in 4 groups of 6 – twice! The mammoth group stage led us into the knockouts, culminating in a very high standard of play in the semi-finals and beyond. Ultimately NBH came out on top again, Gabriel making up for his semi-final loss in 2020 by beating the reigning champion Nathan (King’s) in the final. A very close play-off saw Jonny (King’s) win a bronze medal ahead of James (Webber). Players from Immanuel (Romford), King’s (Witney) and King Alfred played well to make it a great tournament.
Thank you to all who took part and to the staff/parents who brought them. See you next year!
