A Cappella Competition

A Cappella, Italian for ‘in the manner of the chapel’ has a religious origin, but the genre has continued to grow and change through the years, with the early 20th Century’s Barbershop Quartets to today’s popular film franchise, Pitch Perfect and multi-Platinum selling group Pentatonix giving it a modern twist.

We are excited to launch our first A Cappella competition in 2020. Open to all ages, this competition is set to be a new challenge for music students to work across the year groups and produce a vocally charged performance.

Judged by BBC2’s ‘The Naked Choir with Gareth Malone’ winners Sons of Pitches. The Sons of Pitches are one of the premiere vocal groups currently working in the UK. With soaring vocals, stellar set pieces and mind-bending improvised numbers they are taking the world of entertainment by storm and it’s all without instruments. They have won multiple awards in the world of A Cappella music and their videos have had over three million views on their YouTube channel.

Opening dates for entries:  Wednesday 11 September 2019
Deadline to enter: Wednesday 13 November 2019 – Extended to Friday 13 December 2019
 Event: Friday 28 February 2020,
Leighton Park School, RG2 7ED
