CEO of Aldbury International Schools (AI School) – Critical Incident Management Specialists
I am a critical incident planning specialist with 30 years security management knowledge and expertise, presently working across a wide range of schools and colleges.
My experience has been built from having a background in UK Policing. I joined Thames Valley Police Force in 1990. During my time in the police I have undertaken a wide variety of roles from patrol and investigation to public order and critical incident management. As a Fulbright Scholar, I attended the FBI academy researching Less Lethal technologies. Subsequently, I was promoted to the rank of Superintendent and oversaw an Operations & Major Incident Centre. As a designated critical incident & firearms commander, I gained in-depth knowledge of and expertise in managing crises.
In 2005, I was seconded to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, with responsibility for all aspects of diplomatic security in the Balkans. In this role, I provided direct support and guidance to international schools, whose standing and profile made them an extremely popular target for domestic and international terrorist organisations. Many schools were also vulnerable to earthquakes and natural disasters and needed robust planning to cope in the aftermath. I was instrumental in helping schools develop protocols to co-ordinate and integrate the personal security arrangements of pupils from high net worth families, subject to armed criminal threats including kidnap and assassination, while on school premise. In 2010 a move into commercial security, working for several global trading organisations meant I continued to provide security advice and guidance to international schools where the children of employees on international postings were present. In 2016, I decided to launch my own consultancy (AI Schools) specialising in Critical Incident Management training and specialise in testing school’s capability with tailormade realistic scenarios, played out in real time.
