Colin Ashby read Chemistry at Birmingham University and then studied for his PGCE at Oxford University where he gained his rugby Blue in 1973. His first teaching post was at Epsom College during which time he and his wife, Patricia, ran a girls’ boarding house. Then at Bromsgrove School, Colin spent 8 years as boarding Housemaster and became Headmaster of Trinity School, Teignmouth from 1992 to 2008, when the School expanded from 220 pupils to over 650. Trinity achieved the Investors in People Award and became one of the top 2% of schools nationally in terms of value-added with students competing nationally in fencing, tennis, athletics, swimming and squash. Colin became Chairman of ISA in 2005 and has served as a Vice-President from 2008 to 2015. He is has been a Team Leader and Assistant Principal Examiner for Edexcel Pearson for advanced level chemistry. Since 2008, he has worked as a Consultant for over 20 independent schools and is an ISI Inspector. He played rugby for Richmond and Colin’s interests include swimming, cycling, music and travel, having visited 26 countries. In 2008 he became a Paul Harris Fellow ‘in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world’. Colin enjoys working with and empowering people at all levels, to create dynamic and successful environments, which lead to the fulfilment of human potential.
