Suitable for: Any staff who are responsible for tackling the issues created by the new law

This course will provide delegates with an in depth overview of the new data protection law, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and how it will impact independent schools.

GDPR comes into force in May 2018. It will replace the current Data Protection Act 1998. With the headline of a maximum £17m fine, or 4% of turnover (whichever is greater) there is good reason to be concerned. Schools hold vast amounts of personal data, there are going to be a number of important changes so it is vital that schools prepare now to be ready.

Programme outline:

  • Understanding the GDPR
  • Understanding the principles of document management (PIMS) and data security (ISMS)
  • Mandatory records required under the GDPR accountability framework
  • Overview of important actions by 25 May
