Who should attend?
Maths subject leaders, Classroom teachers, Teaching assistants, Teachers moving into new year groups.
There has been a major shift in primary education from the NNS three termly repeats of unit plans and blocks of work to a more in-depth and linear mastery approach to teaching.
During the day, you will have the opportunity to look at current models and images such as bar modelling and ten frames. You will explore key resources such as two colour counters, pattern blocks, dice, proportional and non-proportional place value resources.
This is an active and hands on course – it is advisable to bring an iPad or camera phone with you to capture the various models and images and a memory stick should you require any bespoke electronic resources on the day from the tutor.
- To learn about mastery in mathematics and the learning theories that underpin it
- To consider the importance of the CPA approach in teaching calculation
- To experience problem solving using part whole and bar modelling
