Academic leadership at middle leader level is fundamentally important to the progress of our pupils and the success of our schools. This course will cover essential elements such as curriculum design, highly effective learning, team leadership and how to harness research to build reflective CPD opportunities.

Curriculum matters:
◦ Planning a continuum of learning ◦ Curriculum into learning ◦ developing programmes of study and schemes of work ◦ Avoiding rigidity ◦ Effective pupil grouping

High impact learning:
◦ Challenge for all ◦ Fundamentals of excellence teaching ◦ Building on prior learning ◦ Are our pupils learning – how do we know? ◦ Marking and assessment

The place of research:
◦ The learning and innovative department ◦ Self generated CPD ◦ Using data and not drowning in it
