We aim to make the process of applying for membership as smooth as possible. If you would like to find out more about joining ISA please click here to email us or speak to our Deputy CEO, Peter Woodroffe, on 01799 581694.
The application procedure involves three stages.
The head completes and returns the application form. On receipt of the paperwork, ISA review the application and the school’s last inspection report, and invoice the schools for the registration fee.
Application papers are sent to the appropriate ISA Area Coordinator. He or she then contacts the headteacher to arrange a meeting in their school or college. The purpose of this visit, which forms part of the accreditation process, is to create a dialogue; it is as much to ensure that the school is aware of all that ISA has to offer as it is to see the prospective member at work in their own environment.
Following their visit, the Area Coordinator will write a report to be presented at the next meeting of the Membership Committee (these are held three or four times a year). The report will include a recommendation as to suitability for ISA membership. ISA’s Membership Committee will then make a recommendation to the Executive Council who will take the decision as to whether to approve full membership.
If successful, the new member’s school/college will have access to full ISA benefits. The school/college will be presented with a plaque denoting full membership and will be able use the ISA logo in its marketing. Pupils will also be able to take part in the all ISA activities.
