We are a small and friendly independent school, co-educational day and boarding school situated in the North York Moors National Park, overlooking the picturesque coastline of Robin Hood’s Bay, near Whitby, North Yorkshire, England. Since we opened in 1923, we have welcomed pupils of all abilities, confident that good teaching in our family-like community gives every child the best possible chance to excel. We offer affordable excellence in education for our pupils whether they attend as a day or boarding pupil.
Fyling Hall has a long tradition of providing a quality education while becoming a second home for children from overseas. Our boarding community forges strong relationships between the pupils and the staff. A real sense of family is created as a result.
All international pupils are supported by quality English lessons, in small classes, from specialist teachers.
At Fyling Hall, we provide a diverse extra-curricular and weekend activity programme which provides opportunities for new experiences and keeps our students busy. Specialist clubs such as climbing, board games and craft club ensure that there is something for everyone. However, there is always time to relax, and weekends are action packed: shopping, mountain biking, cinema, paintballing, surfing, mountain biking, rambling and canoeing all feature regularly on the programme.
All the boarding houses have a phone line with a direct number and the office or duty master is always available to answer the main school number.
We are located in the North of England which is serviced by a number of international airports and major railway stations that link directly to London. We do our utmost to remove the worry and stress of travelling to and from our school. We offer an escorted bus to Manchester airport and York railway station at the start and end of each term. At the start and end of every half term we escort to York Railway station and organise transfers to the airport by taxi. We also offer further assistance and guidance if you need to make travel arrangements outside of these services.
