Giving your child the best start…
In Redland, Bristol we are known as a much-loved educational gem and have become a sparkling beacon for exceptional pastoral care and educational excellence. We are a small establishment but have been making a big impact on families for just over 100 years.
We offer primary and junior education for boys and girls between the ages of 4 – 11, mid-year entries are also welcome.
We pride ourselves on being able to offer tailored teaching to meet the individual needs of each child who are, at the heart of everything we do. To quote our Headteacher, Mrs Seagrove,”We are renowned for a quality cutting edge and topical curriculum that enables excellent personal development, meaning our children develop confidence and face academic and life challenges well.”
In recent years the development of a full breakfast and after school club has enabled us to offer ‘wrap around care’ from 8 am until 6 pm. And with the addition of our extremely popular holiday club, we offer a host of fun activities between terms, it’s easy to see why children love coming to Torwood House School both in and out of learning times!
Other provisions include, weekly swimming lessons and ‘Forest School’ for Reception children, which sees children exploring the natural world in nearby woodland.
The environment is something we take seriously so, unsurprisingly, there were cheers all around when we become one of only nine city-wide to receive the Bristol 2015 Green Capital ‘Green for Good’ Schools award in recognition of the pupils’ hard work embracing sustainable learning and living throughout last year.
Academically, there’s also much to be proud of. This year all our Year 6s secured a place in their first choice of senior school, with some gaining scholarships in leading private schools.
Set on the edge of The Downs, in Redland, we not only welcome visits from parents, we actively encourage them; we are eager for parents to meet our greatest ambassadors – our children!
