Former Head of Legal and Policy - Independent Schools Inspectorate
Sarah studied law at Oxford University and qualified as a solicitor in 1989. After an initial career in commercial litigation in the City, she retrained in child and education law with particular expertise in independent education. During her tenure as Solicitor and Deputy General Secretary for the Independent Schools Council, she represented ISC to the government. Until recently Sarah was Head of Legal & Policy for the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) during which time she was the author-editor of the ISI Commentary on the Regulatory Requirements and the inspectorate’s recognised legal representative for the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse. She has delivered safeguarding and regulatory training for inspectors and schools for many years and has recently published: A Practical Guide to the Independent School Standards.
Sarah chairs the Safeguarding Advisory Panel for the Anglican Diocese of London and is a governor or two schools.
