Middle leaders – primary/junior subject leaders, senior school heads of department/subject and phase leaders carry a significant responsibility for ensuring their area of responsibility. Middle leaders are central in designing the intent of the curriculum, directing its implementation, and evaluating the impact. To be effective in this role requires a pragmatic understanding of the process of leadership, combined with an underpinning knowledge of curriculum and learning design.

Jonathan held senior leadership roles in the maintained and independent sectors for 21 years before building a thriving consultancy. His principal roles included two headships: focusing on school improvement planning, use of data to improve academic performance, pastoral care and emotional wellbeing. He currently works with middle and senior leadership teams to transform the experiences and outcomes for children.
