During this interactive workshop , we will explore what we mean by school culture and school climate and examine these more closely, allowing us the opportunity to reflect on our own setting and how it aligns with your school vision and on how you can create and maintain a positive school culture and create an effective wellbeing plan to support colleagues and the school community.
Throughout the course you will gain a deeper understanding of what a positive school culture looks like and how it works to develop more thoughtful educators in developing a school culture around impact and improving student learning and well-being.
We will identify the main mental health conditions and how we can recognise the signs of mental health issues in our School, exploring how mental health is viewed in our Schools and where there might be stigma and misconceptions surrounding mental health.
We will discuss how to handle issues should they arise and look at how to ensure learners can get timely and appropriate support for their needs. This involves seeking out statutory and independent health services that commonly exist in local areas and deepening our understanding of NHS children and young people’s mental health services (CYPMHS, previously CAMHS).
We will look to ways to work with parents, families and carers to support their children throughout.
At the end of the course, you will have created an action plan of next steps to promote wellbeing in your School for colleagues and the school community.
