It is widely accepted that the provision of high quality pastoral care is at the heart of all successful schools. Opinion is rather more divided as to what constitutes excellent pastoral care and how schools should go about providing it.
Aims of the course:

I thought this course was excellent. It drew together the different aspects of being a DSL and Pastoral Coordinator and really helped with inspection prep.

Sally read English Literature and Theatre Studies at Royal Holloway College before gaining a PGCE from University College, Oxford. After teaching in the maintained sector, Sally completed an MPhil in Victorian Literature and a DPhil in Victorian Fiction at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. Since completing her doctorate, she has pursued a 25-year career in the independent sixth-form sector, including 15 years in headship. Formerly the Head of Collingham College, Sally is now Head of Mander Portman Woodward (London) school.
Sally is a former Chair of the Council for Independent Further Education.
