Dinosaur author visits Oliver House School in Clapham

Children at Oliver House School dressed up as their favourite literary characters and spent World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March with local author, Nicky Dee, whose popular series of dinosaur books is called, “What’s So Special about Dinosaurs?”. The children were excited to meet the author who shared her expertise and her enthusiasm about dinosaurs with all year groups throughout the day.  Pupils were fascinated to learn lots of facts about dinosaurs and to see the fossils that Nicky had brought in to show them.  She also spoke about her experiences as a writer and chatted to the children as she signed copies of her books. The author then judged the book cover design competition and presented a dinosaur goodie bag to the winners.  She said “I have loved being part of Oliver House School’s World Book Day. It has been a great pleasure to share my interest in dinosaurs with so many  bright and interested children. They were asking so many questions, they obviously love dinosaurs and were really attentive.” One Year 3 pupil commented on the session with Nicky Dee, “It was really interesting, I really enjoyed it, I thought it was... exquisite!” Further information about the series of books is available from the author’s website: www.specialdinosaurs.com
