ISA National Swimming Finals - London West Claim Overall Finals Title
What a day of swimming! For the seventh time, ISA returned to the London Aquatics Centre, home of the 2012 Olympic swimming for the 2021 56th National Swimming Finals. A total of 1314 spectators travelled from around the UK to support over 450 very talented swimmers from 125 schools. Yet again, the competition was exciting with many races won by the smallest of margins as well as individual performances that were outstanding, subsequently breaking national records; a total of 12 were broken on the day. The day also welcomed the inclusion of para-swimming, an initiative championed by ISA and one that we hope to increase awareness of. Three talented athletes took part, across three different categories. There were many brilliant individual and team performances throughout the day, including impressive national records shown below: Year 6 Boys Archie T. Littlegarth School (0:34.73) beating the previous 0:36.01 set by R.Abdulhafiz (London South) 2018 Year 9-10 Boys Sid C. In the team competition, many areas were in contention up until the final relays. Eventually, the London West were the triumphant team accumulating 466 points. The London West area, whose consistency throughout all of the races was evident as they finished ahead of Midlands who were only 66 points behind. The close nature of the team events shows the strength of depth in ISA schools throughout the country and this is only likely to improve. Well done to the ISA London West team for your overall victory but congratulations to everyone involved on the day. Be inspired to continue swimming, you are all excellent! Everyone should be proud of their achievement and for the exemplary attitude that they showed throughout the event. SAVE THE DATE! The 2021-2022 ISA National Swimming Finals will take place on December 3rd or 4th, at the London Aquatics Centre. Please put this new date in your diaries.
