Maria Keaveney-Jessiman awarded MBE for services to education
Founder and Principal of the Eveline Day and Nursery School Group, Maria Keaveney-Jessiman, was recognised in the New Year Honours 2021.
Mrs Keaveney-Jessiman was awarded an MBE for services to education.
Maria was the Principal of 7 nurseries and the Eveline Day School in London. The Eveline Day Group began as a crèche in 1964 and since then Maria and her family worked to provide high quality provision for their pupils.
Maria had also been supporting charities during the Covid-19 pandemic. During the first lockdown, aged 95, she set herself the challenge of climbing 1,000 steps each day on her stairs at home to reach a total of 50,000 steps. She beat this goal to reach 60,000 steps and raised money for the NHS and for children’s charities Rianna’s Fund and Winston’s Wish. She continued climbing and set her sights on completing 100,000 steps.
Sadly, Maria passed away on 14 January.
Congratulations to Maria on her MBE and her fundraising achievements.
