Richard Walden Appointed ISA Chair of Sports Committee
Richard Walden has just retired, after being head of Castle House School, Shropshire, for the last eighteen years. The school has sport on the timetable every day for all pupils and competes regularly in a variety of sports, including ISA competitions.
Richard was on the ISA national executive council for eleven years, eventually serving as chair of finance and then as the Association’s national chair in 2014. He was also chair of the ISA Midlands, working closely with Roger Brierly, now ISA National Sports Ambassador, at a time when the region’s sports programme was considerably expanded and strengthened.
Richard is married to June Walden, a specialist PE teacher, who founded and organised for twelve years ISA’s national gymnastics championships, an event with which Richard also helped. He supports West Ham United and Middlesex CCC, usually both lost causes, but doing well in recent months! Richard has been appointed as Chair of the ISA Sports Committee and we wish him all the success in his new position.
