Wemms Education Centre honour animals sacrificed in moving 2021 Remembrance service
In addition to honouring the sacrifices made by soldiers during times of war and recognising the efforts of engineers and healthcare services, Wemms Education Centre chose animals as their theme for Remembrance Day 2021. As you can see in the video further down, one student beautifully sang ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’, echoing the message ‘all creatures great and small’. Wemms Education Centre created a purple poppy wreath to commemorate the sacrifices made by animals in the First World War in particular.Pupils from Wemms laid wreaths on a wall that had been adorned with poppies during the service, before one student delivered the ‘In Flanders Fields’ poem. ‘The Last Post’ was then played out by staff member Pete as the entire school observed a moment of silence. The service ended with a beautiful performance from one student on the violin. We are delighted to be working with poppies, supplied by The Royal British Legion to create wreaths for Wemms Remembrance Day service this Thursday. We will be making traditional poppy wreaths and a purple poppy wreath to remember the animals that have been victims of war. pic.twitter.com/69YLYog02q
