This online course will study the importance of the quality of relational cultures in school, in particular the way girls and boys get on with their same gendered peers. The course builds on Andrew Hampton’s work with girls called Girls on Board (GirlsonBoard.co.uk) and with boys called Working with Boys (workingwithboys.com)
Participants will come away with insights about the lives of girls and boys in school, equipped with techniques to see life through their lens. Those insights will lead to new and refreshed strategies aimed at making the daily lives of pupils better, more enjoyable and less stressful. This will lead to better attendance, better engagement and improved outcomes according to a wide rage of measures.
What you will learn:
Participants will gain an acute understanding of:
1. What drives relational conflict between girls which can be so damaging to their wellbeing and how to fix it.
2. What drives some boys to behave in disruptive and abusive ways in school, and how to fix it.
3. How to embed these insights into practice and policy.
