Across three interactive workshops we will explore:

  1. The vocabulary describing sexual orientation and gender identity.
  2. How to recognise, stop and prevent homophobic and transphobic bullying.
  3. How to make your school a safer and more inclusive place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning pupils and staff.

Aims of the course
Today’s course will serve as a valuable introduction to those addressing LGBT+ matters in their school and provide a useful refresher for those with greater professional experience of the topic - in a fast-moving arena.

  • You’ll learn how to be more confident talking to or about lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender pupils or colleagues and why this is an essential Duty of Care matter.
  • You’ll feel more assertive in identifying homophobic or transphobic bullying plus the strategies to stop and prevent it.
  • You’ll have acquired tried and tested strategies to help your school embed best practice regarding LGBT+ policy, procedure and practice.
