Who should attend?
All staff, including Pastoral Care and Early Intervention and Prevention.
This course is designed to help all professionals to understand and identify issues of mental health and vulnerability, and to be able to directly support all pupils and students regarding bullying, stress, anger and anxiety.
To improve participants’ front line skills in working effectively with pupils to deal with tricky modern day situations; by
- Teaching tools and techniques within a step-by-step tool kit, that provides solution strategies for preventing bullying, anxiety and anger in such turbulent times
- Equipping professionals in best practice listening and reflective skills
- Helping delegates to adopt best practice for crisis intervention and ongoing support
- Tackling tricky modern-day situations and scenarios, such as friendship skills, bully defence tools and top tips for positive mental health
- Providing numerous Lesson Plans and Resources in the form of icebreakers, movie clips, games, quizzes and role plays
By the end of the day you will:
- Understand the definition, cause, cycle and effect of mental health and vulnerability
- Understand the importance of building relationships with pupils through best practice listening and questioning skills, being able to challenge negative behaviour and teaching practical top tips regarding the importance of relationships, respect and identity
- Practice and disseminate all learnt tools and techniques for direct work, which in turn will provide the pupil with confidence to adopt healthy relationships, develop life skills for the future and aspire to their goals
- Develop your own bespoke, tailor made positive ‘Mental Health’ programme that allows for one-to-one and group work of pupil training for all year groups, as well as parent evidence
