Who should attend?
Any member of staff who has responsibility for data collection, analysis, dissemination and use. Those who wish to develop internal methods of collecting and using information for evidence based improvements in teacher practice. Suitable for those working in independent prep, senior or all through schools.
In an increasingly competitive education environment we know we must show how well we are succeeding, as well as constantly seeking improvement. Data is often seen as the holy grail to these endeavours but its value can get lost in a sea of numbers. Data usage is often limited to academic tracking, pupil progress, and an evaluation of outcomes, but it can show us a great deal more.
This course will enable delegates to make more analytical use of data and translate it into evidence based improvements in practice. You will learn the limitations of data, and also develop methods of gathering and using internally derived data.
Delegates will learn:
- How to take a more critical and evaluative approach to the acquisition and use of data
- How to generate and use data from within their own school
- How to get under the surface of their data and what it can tell us about pupils and classrooms
