ISA Members celebrate their GCSE and A Level success
We would like to offer a big well done to all ISA schools who have recently received their GCSE and A level results. We are delighted to share the success of some of our Members below:
The Webber Independent School:
GSCE: 92.3% of students achieved A* to C/9 to 4 grades in five or more subjects including English and Maths, up an impressive 17% on last year’s GCSE results.
A Level: 56.5% of students achieved A*- B grades at A Level with 26.09% achieving A*- A Grades
Ditcham Park School:
GCSE: 41% of all grades achieved were A*/A including the new 7/8/9 grades for English and Maths and nearly a quarter of the year group achieved at least 7 A*/A grades including the equivalent new 7/8/9 grades. Two pupils achieved the elusive new top grade 9 in Maths.
Abbey Gate College:
GCSE: The co-educational independent school for children aged 4 to 18 years is celebrating pupils achieving A* and A grades across most subjects - 92% of results were A* to C.
A Level: 64% of Students achieved grades A* to B in their chosen subjects, with almost half of all students achieving A* to B in all their chosen subjects.
Shoreham College:
GCSE: 98% of pupils gained 5 A*-C grades at GCSE this year and 96% achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Mathematics; a remarkable achievement and bucking the national trend of falling grades after the new reforms.
LVS Ascot:
GCSE: 30% A* and A grades for the first time, up from 26% in 2016, as the independent all-ability school celebrated an excellent set of results showing rises in all areas. The success was shared by all students, with 85.5% of all papers achieving A* - C grades (83.8% last year) and 93.2% of students recording five or more A* - C grades, up from 90.1% in 2016. 13% of all students received at least three A* grades.
Malvern St James Girls’ School:
GCSE: Results overall for A*-C are up again this year to 97%, reflecting a three year trend; this is no mean feat in what has been widely declared by all educationalists as a more rigorous exam year.
A Level: Out of a cohort of 61 girls, over a quarter of all A Level entries (28%) achieved A*, over half (54%) A*-A, and over three quarters (76%) A*-B.
Ballard School:
GCSE: 89% of 2017 cohort have achieved five ‘passes’ at A* to C grades (including English and Maths graded at 4 and above) - well in excess of the National average and at the forefront of non-selective schools in the area. The 89% success is 4% higher than the ‘gold standard’ achievement of last year and the best for 5 years (since the new-style GCSEs began). Some 97% of pupils achieved grade 4 and above in Maths and 44% of candidates in IGCSE English Language were graded A or A*.
Cundall Manor:
The non-selective school, based between Ripon and Thirsk, recorded another remarkable set of GCSE results including a 100% overall pass rate with 95% of students gaining the equivalent of 5 or more ‘good passes’ at GCSE. Pupils from the school also secured an impressive third of all passes at A*/A grade or equivalent – up 11.3% against the national average of 21.7% for 2016.
